Compare the Rumpl Travel Puffy Blanket and Original Puffy Blanket for air travel. Find out which packable blanket is lighter, more compact, and better suited for the plane.
Quick answer
For air travel, the Rumpl Travel Puffy Blanket is the better choice because it is lighter and more packable than the Original Puffy Blanket, though the Original offers more warmth if you need it.
Why packability matters on a plane
Airlines are strict about carry-on space. A blanket that stuffs into a small sack fits in your personal item or under the seat. The Travel Puffy is designed with a roll-top stuff sack that compresses the blanket into a compact bundle, making it easy to stow.
The Original Puffy Blanket is also packable but is bulkier when compressed. For short flights or minimal luggage, the Travel Puffy wins on space efficiency.
Warmth versus weight
The Original Puffy Blanket is thicker and warmer, which is great for cold airport terminals or chilly flights. However, it adds weight and takes up more room in your bag.
The Travel Puffy balances warmth and comfort with packability. It is warm enough for cabin temperatures but not as insulating as the Original. If you run cold or fly to cold destinations, the Original may still work.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Packability: Travel Puffy compresses smaller thanks to its roll-top stuff sack. Original Puffy is bulkier when packed.
- Warmth: Original Puffy is warmer and thicker. Travel Puffy is lighter but still comfortable for standard cabin temps.
- Weight: Travel Puffy is lighter, making it easier to carry on long walks through the airport. Original is heavier.
