Compare Rumpl's Fleece Puffy 2 Person and Original Puffy 2 Person blankets to find your perfect match for camping, lounging, or travel.
Quick answer
Choose the Fleece Puffy 2 Person Blanket if you prioritize cozy, soft warmth for lounging or car camping. Pick the Original Puffy 2 Person Blanket when you need a lighter, packable blanket for backpacking or variable weather.
Warmth and insulation: fleece vs puffy
The Fleece Puffy 2 Person uses a buttery-soft fleece liner paired with RenewaLoft recycled insulation and a weather-resistant shell. This combination delivers plush, enveloping warmth ideal for stationary use like movie nights or chilly campsites.
The Original Puffy 2 Person relies on its durable VersaWeave shell and synthetic insulation to provide reliable warmth in a more packable form. It's designed to be warm beyond expectation without the bulk of fleece, making it better for active outdoor recreation.
Portability and packability
If you're hiking to your campsite or need to save space in your car, the Original Puffy is the clear winner. Its slim profile and lighter weight make it easy to stuff into a backpack or duffel.
The Fleece Puffy is heavier and bulkier due to the fleece liner and thicker insulation. It's best suited for car camping, cabin trips, or home use where portability isn't the priority.
Durability and weather resistance
Both blankets feature Rumpl's VersaWeave 30D ripstop shell, which resists debris and light moisture. However, the Fleece Puffy adds an anti-static and anti-microbial treatment on its fleece liner for extra comfort and hygiene.
The Original Puffy's shell is designed for all-around outdoor durability without the extra liner treatments. It's a proven workhorse that launched the brand.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Fleece Puffy 2 Person: Cozy warmth vs portability: The fleece liner and thicker insulation deliver maximum softness and warmth, but add weight and bulk. Best for car camping, cabin trips, and home lounging where you don't need to carry it far. If you value plush comfort over packability, this is your blanket.
- Original Puffy 2 Person: Packability vs plush feel: Lighter and more compressible for hiking and travel, but the shell fabric lacks the soft fleece interior. It's warm enough for most conditions, but not as snuggly for sleeping directly against skin. Choose this when weight and space matter more than a fleece-like touch.
- Price difference: The Fleece Puffy 2 Person is priced at USD 167.97 (compare at USD 239.95), while the Original Puffy 2 Person is USD 145.96 (compare at USD 199.95). The fleece model costs about USD 22 more for the added liner and insulation. The extra cost buys a softer, warmer experience for stationary use.
